Those who are under the impression that the existence of letter skip codes in the ancient Hebrew Bible is just a modern theory spawned in the computer age may be surprised to learn that historical context for encrypted information (particularly in the Book of Genesis) can be documented to at least the 13th century AD, and to of all places, Spain. In fact it is among the 13th century Spanish Monarchy and Sephardic Jewish Torah scholars where we detect the convergence of so many clues and threads of inquiry related to discoveries presented in The Chamberlain Key, that we must ask the questions:

What did they know?
When did they know it?
From whom did they learn it?

Rabbi Bachya ben Asher

The first documented reference to equal distant letter skip codes in the Torah is by Rabbi Bachya ben Asher (1255-1340). He is considered by Jewish scholars to be one of the most distinguished Torah scholars in Spain. He was the student of the equally famous Spanish Jewish scholar, Rabbi Shlomo ben Aderet (1235–1310).

Rabbi Bachya ben Asher, discussing the first verse in Genesis, writes:

If the eyes of your heart will be illuminated, you will find here precisely the code number that I mentioned above. It is encoded into the text in such a way that between each of its four letters lie 42 intervening letters. The wise will understand that this is not by chance, but a clear sign involving the very birth of the world.”

He says this code reveals a secret related to the birth of the moon (the new moon whose universal symbol is of course the crescent moon). We are familiar with this symbol displayed beneath the feet of the Rocio Madonna as well as all other depictions of The Woman of the Apocalypse in paintings and sculpture. The crescent (new) moon is also one of the 16 hidden symbols discovered on the gold sunbursts surrounding the Rocio Madonna. I discovered this same symbol featured extensively in the private Royal chapel of the Spanish monarchy in Seville.

The new moon incorporated into the narrative scenes on the central alter that tell the story of a great and powerful gift (a two edged sword/the Words of God) handed down through the centuries to the kings of Castile and Leon by the ancient High priests of Israel.

The gold and silver central alter, the very heart and center of the 15th century Cathedral, represents a mysterious tradition regarding the Hebrew Scriptures as well as the blood line of the Spanish monarchy.

Alfonso X

Alfonso X (1221 – 1284), whose crypt rests in the royal chapel, was the sponsor of the Toledo School of Translators where Jewish, Christian and Muslim scholars were employed to translate the Scriptures and other literary works into Latin and the king’s native Castilian language. Alfonso personally supervised these translations and no doubt learned a great deal regarding the true structure of the Hebrew texts from Sephardic Torah scholars as well as Jewish Christian translators. According to documents in the archives of the Primordial Brotherhood of the Virgin of El Rocio, Alfonso X was a patron and devotee of the Rocio Madonna. In his will, Alfonso instructed that upon his death his heart was to be buried on Mount Calvary in Jerusalem, where he attests his ancestors were buried. So what exactly is the connection between the encoded information in the ancient Hebrew Bible, the Hebrew bloodline of the Spanish monarchy, and the tradition and veneration of the Rocio Madonna?

Above the panel it reads in Latin, “There is none other like this”.

In his book The Secret Society of Moses Admiral Flavio Barbiero presents extensive evidence that after the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD many members of the Jewish Priestly and noble class immigrated to Italy under the protection of Emperor Vespasian. The Jewish historian Flavius Josephus is certainly the best known of these emigres and Admiral Barbiero concludes that it was Josephus who brokered the protection arrangement for these Jewish nobles and their extended families. In order to protect themselves in the ever shifting political winds of the Roman Empire these families sought to integrate themselves into Roman society by assuming Latin names and outward appearances while at the same time preserving their own cultural heritage in secret.

These families were, and always had been, very cosmopolitan. Being extremely skilled scribes, translators, merchants, military leaders, and craftsman, it was not difficult for them to find opportunities and prosper. But more to the point, whatever was saved from the Temple archives…Scriptural manuscripts, genealogies, deeds, wills…must have been in the possession of the Priestly and noble class. These documents were essential in re-constituting the hierarchy of Jewish society which had always been centered on the Temple and the ritual activities associated  with it. Whatever they’d hoped for, this tightly knit group was not able to return to their homeland for nearly a thousand years. It is safe to speculate that they would not have carelessly disposed of their precious records, nor their sacred heritage. They devised a plan to preserve both.

The Royal Chapel of the Spanish Monarchy (Seville Spain)

Into this mix of events we must include another key element, that of the first true Christians, Jesus’s closest disciples…his siblings and extended blood relations, all Jewish as well, were likely displaced at the fall of Jerusalem and surrounding regions in Palestine. There are so many competing legends about people such as Joseph of Arimathea bringing members of Jesus’s family to Europe that it’s hard to speculate if any one of them might contain an element of truth. This is no surprise. These were people on the run, fleeing into the proverbial wilderness and at odds with both the Roman and Jewish authorities. We must also consider the Jews who converted to Christianity after re-settling in the Western Roman Empire. To all of these people, Scriptural and genealogical records were vitally important in maintaining a connection with their faith and heritage. These were their treasures, and we are anxious to discover what they did with them.

When hunting for lost or hidden historical treasures, the proof of theory can only rest in locating the treasures; all else is intuitive speculation. To be successful, speculation must be founded on the best objective research. The discovery of pre-cognitive encryptions in the oldest Hebrew Biblical texts, which have led to specific locations in Europe where information and artifacts were intentionally hidden and strategically placed as time-capsules, introduces an intriguing possibility. The possibility of hiding things in plain sight in the same way that information was hidden in plain sight within the text of the Hebrew Bible.

Maimonides & Rabbi Moshe Cordovero

Maimonides“The Torah came to [Moses] entirely from God, in the kind of transmission that may be referred to metaphorically as “speech.” No one knows the nature of that transmission except the person, may peace be upon him, who received it. He was akin to a scribe before whom something is dictated and he writes it all down, dates, numbers and commands”

So said Maimonides (Rambam), perhaps the most influential Sephardic Jewish philosopher and Torah scholar of the Middle Ages. Born in Spain in 1135 AD, Maimonides moved to North Africa early in life where he was also a renown astronomer and skilled physician. He died in Egypt in 1204 and was buried in Tiberius. Why would this eminent Hebrew scholar affirm such a concept without good reason? Why did Maimonides believe the Torah was dictated to Moses by God with such scribal precision? In the modern age we are familiar with the creative precision with which all life was designed. The complex underlying DNA codes hidden within …. containing the information necessary to sustain and propagate all life forms.

Rabbi Moshe Cordovero

Rabbi Moshe Cordovero, (1522-1570) head of the Rabbinical Court in Israel, during the 16th century, states in his book Pardes Rimonim a commentary on the Zohar, that there are several ways that hidden information is encoded in the Torah.

“The secrets of our holy Torah are revealed through knowledge of combinations, numerology , switching letters, first-and-last letters, shapes of letters, first- and last- verses, skipping of letters and letter combinations. These matters are powerful, hidden and enormous secrets. Because of their great hidden-ness, we do not have the ability to fully comprehend them. Further, to see different angles through these methods is infinite and without limit. On this the Torah says, its measure is longer than the world.

Here Rabbi Moshe Cordovero is very specific concerning some of the encoding methods employed in the Torah. The Chamberlain Key demonstrates many of these encryption methods. But what is the “great hidden-ness” he refers to? He suggests that he does not have “the ability to fully comprehend them.”  Of course not in the 16th century! He did not have the computer technology to enable him to do this but he was aware of the methodologies. From whom did he learn this?

One of the greatest of all Kabbalists Rabbi Moshe Cordovero gained a reputation as a Torah genius at a young age. He was respected as a Talmudic scholar and philosopher and received the special ordination from another famous Rabbi, Yaakov Beirav in 1538. I believe it is safe to assume that the concept of an encrypted Torah was being passed down through the Rabbinical schools for many centuries, especially among the Sephardim in the Spanish Kingdoms. It seems more than coincidence that the Spanish monarchy who employed these Torah scholars as translators were also aware of some great secret hidden in the Hebrew Biblical texts. And perhaps more than a coincidence that Alfonso X claimed his forefathers were buried in Jerusalem. Did Alfonso X know that the “Rocio Madonna” (The Lady that appears in Brilliant Light), whose “womb opened and she brought forth a son” was encoded in Genesis 30:20-23? No computer was necessary to decrypt this information. If one was aware of the basic technique of “intervening letters” or “skipping of letters” the code could have been deciphered by eye in a matter of minutes. The same goes for the TIMOTHEUS key code located in the same three verses of Genesis.

Was this secret knowledge regarding The Virgin and her Son instrumental in the conversion of Alfonso X’s Jewish ancestors to Christianity at some point in the early Middle Ages? The central alter in the Royal Chapel in Seville, telling the story of the powerful sword handed down from the High Priest of Israel, sits directly on top of the crypt of Alfonso X’s father, Ferdinand III of Castile (1201-1252). Ferdinand III also claims that The Woman of the ApocalypseThe Mother of God, appeared to him, instructing him to build a chapel in her honor on the very spot of where is crypt is now located. What is the reality and truth behind all of this legend and tradition? If these stories are allegories, what secrets to they mask?

Michael Dov Weissmandl

In the 20th century Rabbi Michael Dov Weissmandl, honored for his heroic smuggling operation near the Polish-Slovak border to save thousands from the horrors of the Nazi death camps, was intrigued by the writings of Rabbi Bachya ben Asher regarding letter skip codes in the Torah. When he finally immigrated to America after the war he started a yeshiva school in upstate New York. According to his students Rabbi Weissmandl wrote out on white cards several 10×10 matrix arrays of the entire 304,805 letter Torah and studied it for Equal Distant Letter Skip Codes. He insisted there was “divinely ordained information” encrypted in the Torah. Why all the effort here to unravel this mystery? What divinely ordained information was Rabbi Weissmandl trying to decipher?

The Chamberlain Key presents solid evidence that the most important “divinely ordained information” encrypted in the Torah was preserved and tightly compacted in Genesis 30:20-23. In this way it was preserved as a time capsule unlikely to be disturbed by letter alterations in the broader text. But how did the single most statistically significant EDLS codes escape the observation of the Jewish Rabbis that believed the Torah was thus encoded? The answer to this question is as revealing as it is intriguing. The truth is that the only way to know for certain that you have detected intentional encoded communication in any text is to have a pre-selected search term (or terms) predicted in a pre-selected section of the text. This is the only way you can set parameters with which to accurately calculate statistical relevance. It is of course possible to stumble upon an intentional encryption by some other means, but it is difficult to empirically demonstrate its intentionality. These scholars were simply not looking for a nine letter Hebrew spelling of a Biblical name found in the New Testament.

According to his students, Rabbi Weissmandl was looking for codes at short letter skips. This of course would allow him to detect a thematic connection between the search term and the specific verse of Scripture into which it was imbedded. This was being done by hand/eye without the aid of a computer decryption program, the exact same way I first detected the TIMOTHEUS code (aka The Chamberlain Key). But it is unclear exactly what Weissmandl was looking for. My guess is that he was first attempting to locate codes that demonstrated a proof of concept in order to test Rabbi Bachya ben Asher’s claims. But the Sephardic Rabbis in the Middle Ages and the European nobility (those that claimed a Jewish bloodline) knew precisely what they were looking for encoded and hidden in the Scriptures. They were seeking to regain their greatest ancestral treasure the perfect Word of God. What they called “The Lost Word” which they knew had been lost or hidden after the Siege of Jerusalem of 587 BC.

We now must circle back to Spanish monarchs of the Middle Ages. We have solid evidence that they knew that the Hebrew Scriptures were encoded with EDLS codes. We also have evidence that they had either deciphered the Key Code in Genesis 30: 20-23 or the knowledge of it had been passed down to them. We also have evidence that they knew that a code was hidden in the 2nd Book of Chronicles, imbedded precisely into the building specifications of the Temple of Solomon, that revealed the location of the subterranean chamber Solomon built to hide and secure the contents of the Holy of Holies in the event the Temple should ever be threatened.

Again, it is the revered 12th century Spanish Talmud scholar Moses Maimonides that bluntly claims the following…

“The Ark was placed on a stone in the western portion of the Holy of Holies. The vial of manna and Aaron’s staff were placed before it. When Solomon built the Temple, he was aware that it would ultimately be destroyed. {Therefore} he constructed a chamber, in which the Ark could be entombed below…in deep maze-like vaults. King Josiah commanded that the Ark be entombed in the chamber built by Solomon.”

Representation of the hidden chamber under the Temple of Solomon

From where did Moses Maimonides obtain such specific information? Nothing is mentioned in the open Scriptures about a “chamber” below the Temple into which the Ark of the Covenant would be “entombed” at the time the Temple “would ultimately be destroyed”. Maimonides, known as “ha Nesher ha Gadol” (The Great Eagle) was thus called because of his deep knowledge of the Oral Torah, the law supposedly not openly written in the five books of Moses, but considered equally as binding upon the Jewish people. Is it possible that some of this oral tradition was indeed written in the Scriptures but not in a way that was easily recognized because of their great hidden-ness? We now believe that this is certainly the case and especially in regard to this hidden chamber entombed below the Temple of Solomon.

But what in reality is the awesome treasure that was so important that it needed to be safely entombed out of reach of mankind? The Ark…the gold overlaid box? What was the Ark ultimately meant to contain and preserve? Was it not  the Ark of the “Covenant”? The Law and Contract between God and mankind? To change it or alter this contract in any way would not only break it, but it would make it impossible for mankind, at any future time, to truly understand and honor the Covenant. It is only necessary to bear in mind and remember the history of mankind, since the time the Covenant was first delivered to Moses, to answer the following simple question. If every copy of the Covenant and Word of God was left unprotected to circulate for the past 3000 years, would there be a single unaltered perfect copy left to mankind? The Masoretic scribes made every effort to preserve letter for letter what was passed down to them, but they never claimed to possess the Stone Tablets or the actual Torah that Moses scribed himself.

King Josiah reigned from 641–609 BC and is believed by Biblical scholars to have assembled and archived the most important Hebrew Scriptures. He was a righteous king who “walked in the way of his father David, and turned not aside the right hand or to the left.” (2nd Kings 22:2)

“King Josiah commanded that the Ark be “entombed” in the chamber built by Solomom.” – Moses Maimonides

I find Moses Maimonides’s choice of the word “entombed” to be very interesting. Jesus, The Word of God , was also “entombed”. His followers and disciples were confused, and grievously mourned Him, thinking perhaps all was lost and the promises left unfulfilled. But at the appointed time The Word emerged from the tomb….and that changed everything!

More to come!!
